My Week In Photos #8

  1. Jumping photos have been all the rage lately, so I decided to do my own.
  2. Dinner and cocktails at Mint Leaf, they do the best curries!
  3. Lunching at my favourite dim sum restaurant.
  4. They have a whole store dedicated to macaroons in Westfield Stratfod! So yummy!
  5. Self portrait.. looking rather confused? lol.

A lot of food related pictures this week, as I have kept forgetting to bring my camera out with me for my social outings. Anyways, been a busy week so far, hence why I couldn't do my usual friday portrait post. Went to the new Westfield Stratford on friday, absolutely loved! Its been a chilled weekend, I have been in my pyjamas since friday night up until now.. its the best way to do it! My boyfriend is coming over for dinner with my family later... we are cooking up a mean curry just for him!

Have a great week, peeps!

My Week In Photos #7 {9/11}

9/11
My heart goes out to all those people who lost their life on 9-11 and to those that lost their loved ones.

"Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness and a quiet, unyielding anger" - George W. Bush

Ground Zero Memorial Museum - NYC, 2008

continue..
Since when did supermarket stock Starbucks coffee? So addicted to the Starbucks Latte at the moment. / Love this weeks special fashion edition of Metro.. so many gorgeous items.  / Bought this cute owl design ring from Accessorize.. totally in love with it. / Bought this adorable skirt from Urban Outfitters / Delicious chinese meal in China Town with my boyfriend - beef fried noodles  / Self portrait via Photo Booth on my iMac.

Sorry for the lack of photos this week, I was struggling to photograph anything remotely interesting other than food and material things. I am working over the weekend, so didn't really have time to do anything interesting. I am in fact blogging whilst on my lunch break.. I will be leaving the office in a few hours time, travelling home to see my parents. Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Friday Portrait | Week #7

Hello Dreamers, please excuse the strange expression on my face.. pretty dorky huh? FYI, the dress I'm wearing in my photo is from TOPSHOP, for those that have been asking. Anyways, hope everyone is having a great week so far? Unfortunately I haven't got that Friday feeling as I am working over the weekend, boohoo. I had 2-days off this week, went to see Super 8 with my BF and totally loved it.. if you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It's been raining all week, so haven't had the chance to do much. I am on the hunt to get a dress for my cousins wedding, its proven to be one hell of a challenge to get a dress to fit such a petite person. If anyone knows of any good clothing stores for dresses, please let me know.. I'm clueless!  I'm counting down the days until I fly off to LA.. I cannot wait for this holiday, its been such a stressful couple of months. Hopefully in the next month or so, things will be looking up and finally things will be in place... I may have some news to update you guys with, watch this space.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, come rain or shine!

My Heart And Mind Are The True Lens Of The Camera

People find it funny that I always have my camera with me everywhere I go. People even laugh because I take the most mundane images, i usually get comments that vary from "Are you ACTUALLY going to take a photo of that" to "oh no, she has the camera out again! I am glued to my cameras, I have a very strange and worrying obsessions with them. I still remember my first ever digital camera that was a mere 4.1 mega pixels. It was at the age of 16 when I started to love photography and from then, it has grew stronger and bolder. I have been getting quite a few emails and tweets about my camera and what I use to produce my photos on this blog. So this post is dedicated to explaining to you all what camera I use and how I use them to produce my photos. As well as explaining what sort of editing/photo manipulation program I use to enhance my images.

Digital SLR
Canon EOS 500D
15.1 MP CMOS sensor
Full HD (1080p) movies
High ISO up to 128000 for low-light conditions
Up to 3.4fps with up to 170 JPEG burst
3.0" clear view LCD with live view mode
9-point AF system
Digic 4
EOS Integrated Cleaning System
EF/EF-S and EX Speedlite compatibility

I bought this camera just over 9-months a go from Amazon at around £500. It is pretty much on the more pricier side of digital cameras, but if you lust for quality over style then a DSLR is all you can ever need. The Canon 500D has been labelled an entry-level DSLR, so it is perfect if you want to step in to the world of big bulky SLR cameras.  I already have a Canon Powershot S90, which has the characteristic of an SLR, but in a digital point and shot formate. Both cameras produce stunning photos, but of course the DSLR wins hands down on image quality. It is a user-friendly camera that fits perfectly on the palms of my hands (i have really small hands!). I've been a Canon devotee for the past couple of years, so the functions wasn't new to me. I particularly like the macro functions as it produces the most stunning, sharp and precise photos.

For my everyday shooting, I usually use the 'P' mode as it gives me the flexibitity to change certain aspect of my photography.  For example, you can change flash exposure and adjust the intensity of your flash when flash is needed. You can also change the IOS mode, ISO indicates the sensor sensitive to light, the higher the ISO, the less light is needed to make an exposure. The whole photography jargon was all new and confusing to me when I first started off, so don't be too scared to ask questions in photography forums or even twitter. No questions are too silly nor mundane.. we all started of as newbies once.

Currently I am switching between two lenses, a standard kit lens of 18-55mm that came with the camera when I purchased it. I also have the 50mm f/1.8 that produces the most awe-inspiring close up images.

What I mostly love about this camera is the ease of use. It is probably the most easiest DSLR that I have ever come across, having already owned a Nikon D40, which is still sitting on my desk gathering dust. The shutter speed is amazingly fast and the image quality is breathtaking. Each funtions/mode has its way of producing different images and gives the user the ability to work to their own liking.

Photo Editing/Photo Manipulation
So, this probably is the most asked questions that I have gotten through all my emails regarding my blog. I am a huge believer in photo manipulation and enhancement, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.. the more of it, the better I'd say. The main editing program that I now use is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3, I purchased the full version for £130, which was on offer on the month of August. I believe it now cost £230 or roughly that price. This editing program gives you the flexibility to adjust colours, contrast, lighting, clarity of images and many more. A perfect little program if you want to be arty with your photos.

All the images on here was taken with my Canon Powershot S90 and edied on Adobe Light Room 3. If you have any questions, then please tweet me @ PetiteDorimu or email me @ paulaxchang@yahoo.com.

My Week In Photos #6

Myself and my BF have been thinking of a holiday to Orlando sometime next year.. we are still undecided, but hoping to go during September 2012. I went to Waterstone to check out some travel books. / Had dinner at Aubaine, they serve the best Mediterranean cuisine! / Saw this book at Waterstones.. it made me giggle.
I bought the Lancom Hypnos Dolls Eyes after reading so many great reviews on it. I hope it lives up to its name. / I have FINALLY got my camera back after 4-weeks without it.
Went out on Friday night in central London. / I was in Covent Garden on Wednesday and saw so many great little street acts.
Celebrated my sister's birthday at Hawksmoor - The cornflake milkshake was the yummiest!

It feels like my blog is back up and running and it feels much more consistent now. I've hit my 130th follower earlier this week, so thank you all for following.. it means so much to me :). Sunday, in my household, is family day. My mother is cooking up a feast and my sister and niece is coming over in a few hours. My niece is starting nursery on Monday, so i'm pretty chuffed to see her before her big day. I've been rearranging and having a big clear out in my room this weekend, I can't believe the amount of shoes (and junk) I have stored away. I'm thinking of donating my unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories to charity, or even do a blog sell. I've got a few blog posts saved for the coming week, so watch this space :) PS: There will be a few minor changes on my blog done in the next few weeks.

    Friday/Saturday Portrait {+1} | Week #6

I've never really blogged this late before, but seeing as I'm trying to keep up my Friday Portrait post, I might as well keep it going. I cheated a little this week by having a photo taken with someone else, someone else being my cousin. I just couldn't get around to taking a self portrait.. I've been super busy this week with everything at work and socially. The title also includes 'Saturday' simply because its 1:00am as I'm writing this post, so it is technically speaking, Saturday morning. I really shouldn't have had that Starbucks coffee frappacino today as it has really deprived me of sleep. But it is friday, so i must stay up.. even if it means having panda eyes in the morning, which I no doubt will.

Having 8am starts this week has really killed my energy, I've been out everyday after work running errands, seeing friends, spending time with my BF and all that sort of thing. I've barely had any time to myself this whole week and its affects are showing. So this weekend I am resting up and doing nothing but sleep and comfort eating (been craving for trifle this whole week - strange!). I wish weekends would last longer than 2 days.

So on that note, I will keep this post short and simple. Hope everyone has a awesome weekend.. and for all you Londoners, enjoy the sunshine because the weatherman is predict rain all next week. Typical.

Oh, also.. I finally got my camera back! :) hooray.

PS: Blogger has been playing up lately, if you see random posts posted up on your feed that hasn't been published on my blog, then I apologise. I don't know what's happening but it seems that whenever I save to draft, it publishes my post instead. Annoying!

    {a Girly} September Wish List

All images taken from Google Images.

What are your September wants and must-haves?

Happy first day of September! Here are a few items that I am wanting this month - I have been lusting over the Alexa Mulberry bag, it is so seductive and so glamorous, perfect for work, perfect for social outings and it goes with everything I wear. The Burberry trench coat is something that I have been wanting for a while now, it is so beautiful and smart. I will be travelling to LA soon, so i'm in need of a cute Cath Kidston travel bag. All Saints have been bringing out some really sexy leather jackets this year, I love the their rustic and vintage designs in all their clothing. I've been looking for the right pink tone lipstick and the Chanel Hydrating Creme Lip Colour has a range of pink tones that is perfect for me!
